She-Shed Planter Boxes

I finally got around to making planter boxes for the front of my She-Shed. Meet one of my dogs, Monroe, she is a Boxer / Great Pyrenees mix. Here is the final product…

Tools I used for this project: saw horses, shovel, pickaxe, circular saw, aluminum speed square, staple gun, deck screws, level, tape measure, hammer and impact hand drill. I always look around for left over wood and scraps. For this project, I had left over treated redwood boards from our deck to make the planter boxes. I had a few pieces in varying sizes.

I scoured my property and found some smaller pieces of 2x4’s and 1x2’s. I cut them down to 8 inch pieces, to use as bracing for the redwood boards. I measured the area where I wanted the planter boxes and cut the redwood to size. I wrapped the boxes around the she-shed posts, to help cover the concrete piers.

I dug out a trench to place the planters in, to assure they were as level as possible. I lined the boxes with underlayment and stapled it onto the planters. I’ll fill the planters with topsoil and plants that do well in a mostly shaded area.
